Before The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey hit theaters, there was an awesome marathon of The Lord of the Rings extended editions in theaters to get fans excited for Peter Jackson's new trilogy. Now for those who want to experience all that The Hobbit trilogy offers in one day, TheOneRing.net is reporting that IMAX is planning a marathon of all three films on December 15th, that's two days before the final chapter, The Battle of the Five Armies, officially hits theaters. Tickets will go on sale November 14th (that's this Friday), but you'll have to check your local IMAX theaters to see which will have the marathon. More below![3]

If you haven't watched it yet, here's the final trailer for The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies:

The schedule for the marathon has An Unexpected Journey beginning at 1pm, The Desolation of Smaug at 4:05pm and The Battle of the Five Armies at 7pm. All times are local, and the first two films will be the theatrical cuts (though we wish it was the extended cuts). Here's one more chance to enjoy a marathon of Middle Earth on the big screen before Peter Jackson is finally finished with J.R.R. Tolkien's fantasy world.

In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit… J.R.R. Tolkien's The Hobbit[4], being directed by Peter Jackson as three separate movies, is set in Middle-Earth 60 years before Tolkien's Lord of the Rings, which Jackson and his filmmaking team brought to the big screen in a trilogy ten years ago. The films, with screenplays by Fran Walsh, Philippa Boyens, Guillermo del Toro and Peter Jackson, were shot consecutively in 48FPS 3D using the latest cameras. The Hobbit follows the journey of Bilbo Baggins, played by Martin Freeman, who is swept into an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor. The Battle of the Five Armies arrives in theaters in HFR, IMAX & 3D on December 17th[5] later this year. It all ends in December - see you then.
