THE CHILDREN OF HÚRIN [De Luxe edition] (24.10.06)
Harper Collins is still working on the details of the De luxe edition and they are still being agreed with the Tolkien Estate and Alan Lee, but we can confirm that a De Luxe edition of "The Children of Húrin" will be released. It will be slipcased, feature special binding and will include additional features exclusive to this edition.
This special one-off slipcased edition, quarterbound in quality materials and embossed to match the classic de luxe editions of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, will prove irresistible to collectors and fans and as an attractive gift. While the publisher is still working out the details we can already pre-order the book at amazon.co.uk at 80£ (GBP).

Now that my prediction has shown to be true, I'll make some more speculations. The Deluxe Editions in the past were most of the time limited and in this case I predict it to be limited also. The demand will be rather higher then in the past, so a run of 1000 to 3000 copies would be a nice quantity. Most of the time when Alan Lee is involved we see all or a certain amount of copies (like the first hundred) to be signed by the illustrator. In the past we also saw De Luxe copies signed by Christopher Tolkien and somehow I think this time we will see the same happening. If I am right we are in for a treat! I'm really looking forward to this publication and cannot wait to see more info on this De Luxe Edition.
