This summer you are welcome to attend a Tolkien Conference in New York at Baruch College. The conference is organized by Anthony Burdge and Jessica Burke of Myth Ink Books and The Northeast Tolkien Society, along with Baruch College Librarian and Author, Chris Tuthill. People are encouraged to submit papers for the event, click here to read the Call for Papers guidelines. The deadline is on April 7th, so if you would like to be part of the conference, send in your paper within the next couple weeks. Here is what is on the program so far![4][5][6]

Guests include Keynote Academic Speaker, Janet Brennan Croft, who is the Head of Access and Delivery Services and Assistant Professor at Rutgers University Libraries. She is the author of War in the Works of J.R.R. Tolkien and has also written on the Peter Jackson films, J.K. Rowling, Terry Pratchett, Lois McMaster Bujold, and other authors. The other is Minstrel Guest of Honor, John DiBartolo, who is a member of the Lonely Mountain Band[7] which focuses on a self-styled genre called “Folk Fantasy” and Legendarium News & Media[8]. You can read more about them here[9].

And don’t worry about how much it will cost to attend because admission is free! If you are on Facebook, you can visit the conference’s event page[10] to confirm your attendance, but if not, you can comment in the box on this page[11]. The conference welcomes all Tolkien fans, so if you would like to learn more about Tolkien and have the opportunity to meet other fans, come to the conference! “This event is a celebration of Tolkien and his work first and foremost, we are looking for program submissions that illustrate every way a Tolkien fans honors his work, whether through scholarship, gaming, filmmaking, cosplay etc.”

image Author: Myla Malinalda[25] After being dragged to see The Fellowship of the Ring back in 2001 with her dad, Myla fell head-over-hobbit-feet in love with Middle-earth. Myla would love nothing more than to be able to live peacefully in the Shire and go on the occasional adventure with Bilbo. She has a habit of becoming too attached to fictional characters and buying too many copies of the same book. Myla enjoys creating art whenever she can and collecting all things relating to Tolkien.
